Community Engagement
We are committed to the communities in which we operate, working with them to create great places to live and work.
Throughout our regional markets, Civeo provides support for community-based social programs and local economic development initiatives. We do this by engaging with local council, businesses, not-for-profits, and residents, listening to their needs so that we can contribute in meaningful ways.
Whether we’re supporting community events, partnering with local suppliers, or prioritizing employment opportunities for area residents, it’s all part of an ongoing commitment to our neighbouring communities.
Indigenous Community Partnerships
As many of Civeo’s projects in Canada and Australia operate in traditional territories, we work closely with Indigenous communities to explore mutually beneficial investment, employment, and business opportunities.
Enabling Local Businesses
Civeo promotes economic growth by engaging locally owned suppliers, contractors, and consultants whenever possible to provide services and products for our capital projects and ongoing operations.
Local-First Employment & Training
Civeo’s long standing local hiring policy prioritizes the offer of employment based on the applicant’s proximity to the local community.
In some cases, the local supply of skilled workers can be somewhat strained as industry becomes more active in a particular region. For this reason, it is important that Civeo plays an active role in offering training to those who have an interest in culinary, hospitality, and maintenance trades. On-the-job training through post-secondary co-op programs, work experience programs, and apprenticeship programs help to sustain our demand for local labour.
Investment in Local Social Programs
Investment in youth programs, education, sports and recreation, and public health programs all contribute to the social fabric of a vibrant and healthy community. The following are just some of the community-based initiatives Civeo has been proud to support.
School Mates Program
Laptops. Educational excursions. Refurbished classrooms. These are some of the ways our School Mates grant program has been helping to support schools located in our Australian communities. Since 2013, schools across New South Wales, Queensland, and Western Australia receive annual contributions to enhance learning and educational experiences for students.
R U OK? Day
Working away from loved ones and friends can be difficult. Staying connected and having meaningful conversations is something we can all do. We support R U OK? – a not-for-profit suicide prevention organization that encourages and empowers people to reach out to those around them and supports anyone who may be going through a challenging time.
Indspire – Building Brighter Futures
Civeo’s Building Brighter Futures initiative provides scholarships to high school students in Western Canada through Indspire, a national Indigenous-led registered charity that invests in the education of Indigenous people.
Junior Achievement
Civeo has partnered with Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas to help foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy skills in Houston students. The Civeo corporate office volunteers multiple times a year to teach classes in elementary schools around the city focused on instilling important life skills and values in the lives of Houston children.
